It’s not unusual to see flights to Australia selling for well over $1,400, according to Thrifty Traveler Premium — which makes these $717 flights an incredible find.
Monday morning, the flight deal service announced that Qantas Airways and Virgin Australia were slashing prices up to 50 percent, with tickets to cities all across Australia selling in the low $700s.
The most inexpensive fares are available on nonstop flights from San Francisco to Melbourne, which are available from $717.
There are also $729 tickets from Los Angeles and San Jose, California.
But even travelers on the East Coast can take advantage of this Australia airfare war. From New York City, flights Down Under are available for $914 round-trip — still hundreds of dollars cheaper than an average ticket.
